There are columns that require date filter and the following topics will help you understand how each filter works and how you should use it. But before that, the following constant setup will be used to explain each and every filter type. In that way, it will be easier to identify the difference between each filter type.

Fiscal Year setup.

This is very important because most of the filter types will be looking into this setup to identify the date filter. Not only that, how the fiscal year is setup plays a significant role as it will dictate how filter types work, how they can sometimes derive the same result and how they can vary.

The table below will show you the filter types that will result to the same result when Fiscal Year screen has setup like that of the calendar and how it varies if the setup does not start with Jan 1 and end with Dec 31.

Fiscal Year
Starts Jan 1 and ends Dec 31

Does not necessarily start with Jan 1 and end with Dec 31

For this illustration, the setup we will be using is the same as that of the calendar, where it starts with Jan 1 and ends with Dec 31.

This is the first year of operation.

This is the 2nd year of operation, which is marked the current year (see the red stamp that shows Current Fiscal Year).

Since we have filter types that cover next year, we have created sample data for the next year (2015) after the current year (2014).

This is the Row setup.

This is the Column setup. The Calculation column type will be used. This means that the amount to be shown in this column is to be taken from what was posted to the General Ledger and the Filter Type will dictate the Start and End Date of the transaction to be filtered. For all the illustration we will present, only the Filter Type will change.

The As of Date field in the Report Settings screen is used in Filter Type that has As Of within its name. By default, this takes today's date. Note that when this date is changed, that date is saved and that becomes the default date. So next instance Report Settings screen is opened, that same date will be shown.

Another use of As Of Date field is it dictates the current year. If you will not change anything, As Of Date will show today's date and will take the current fiscal year setup in the Fiscal Year screen. However, if you changed the date, then chances is, there might be changes on what your
